Bearing the objective of promoting access and increasing opportunities for musical learning for the population in general, EMESP Tom Jobim offers general free programmes to all audiences and to those wishing to learn about music. The programmes comprise specific musical content with hourly load of 2 hours a week for one year.
Students – children, young adults, adults, including people with disabilities-, participate in musical activities such as improvisation programmes, diverse instrumental practice and introduction to the practice of instruments, theory and musical appreciation.
As for visually impaired candidates, the school offers the programme Braille musicography, which allows students to access the necessary tools for the learning of music sheet reading (deciphering), as well as musical interpreting.
General prep programmes are aimed at those who intend to join the full education programmes at EMESP Tom Jobim. Programmes are organized by age range and require prior musical knowledge from the applicants for admission purposes. The minimum age for admission in general programmes must be compatible with the pedagogic-artistic content of the activities.
