The continuing education programme is aimed at students who want to learn with focus on the vocal or a musical instrument practice. Its structure is divided into three cycles, each with the following age limits for admission: up to 13 years for the 1st cycle, up to 16 for the 2nd cycle and up to 21 for the 3rd cycle.
Each cycle is made of a specific set of mandatory subjects. The content of those subjects will be a requirement in order for the students to move on to the next cycle. During each year of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles the hourly load offered is 6 hours/week, distributed as the pedagogic guidelines set forth by the direction of EMESP Tom Jobim.
In the segment continuing education programmes, the school offers classes of the following instruments for both classical and popular areas:
Classical: lute, singing, baroque chant, clarinet, double bass, harpsichord, euphonium, bassoon, recorder, flute, harp, oboe, Baroque oboe, percussion, piano, saxophone, trombone, French horn, trumpet, tuba, viola, guitar, violin, Baroque violin, cello and Baroque cello.
Popular: accordion, mandolin, drums, singing, cavaquinho, clarinet, acoustic double bass, electric double bass, flute, electric guitar, percussion, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, vibraphone, viola caipira, guitar and 7-string guitar.
